Today marks an important milestone as we officially launch MADDA: Mesothelioma and Dust Diseases Australia. This new chapter represents not just a change of name, but a stronger, broader direction for the work we do and the people we support.

Why the change?
Since 2015, Reflections has been dedicated to supporting patients and carers affected by asbestos-related disease. While that work remains at the heart of who we are, the reality is that asbestos is only one of many dangerous dusts threatening the health of Australian tradespeople. Silica and other dust exposures are leading to life-limiting illnesses, and our team felt it was time our name truly reflected our mission and the breadth of our work.
By expanding to include dust diseases, MADDA positions itself as a stronger advocate and leading source of information. This change acknowledges the evolving risks facing tradies and DIYers and the importance of driving awareness to minimise the potential dangers.
Deepening our collaboration with industry
Our new name also opens the door to deeper collaboration with industry. MADDA is committed to working side by side with industry leaders, unions and RTO’s (Registered Training Organisations) to create safer workplaces. Together, we are raising awareness and encouraging preventative measures to help protect the next generation of tradies.
MADDA will continue providing compassionate, practical support for people affected by mesothelioma and, by working closely with industry, aims to reduce the risk of others facing this devastating diagnosis.
This industry-wide approach strengthens the services we already provide – such as peer support, resources, and awareness – while driving fresh initiatives that address the risks of today and tomorrow.
Looking ahead
With MADDA, we’re stepping forward with purpose and a renewed commitment to awareness, advocacy and meaningful support. With this refreshed direction, we are better equipped to educate the next generation, support those facing a mesothelioma diagnosis, and collaborate with industry to reduce the toll of asbestos and dust diseases on our community.
Under the banner of MADDA, we are proud to move forward with clarity, purpose, and a renewed energy for change.
We look forward to working with you as we move forward.
